Old Monk to relist on Stock Exchanges

Mohan Meakin, the manufacturer of popular rum brand “Old Monk” has submitted its papers for Relisting on bourses.

The process is expected to be completed in next 2-3 months.

The 163 years old company since 1855 has delisted its shares 16 years back from Calcutta and Delhi Stock exchanges.

There is no advertising but its popularity completely depends upon the word of mouth & loyalty of  its customers. However, in 2013 Old Monk lost its rank as the largest selling dark rum to McDowell’s No.1 Celebration Rum.

For financial year ending Mar’2019 the profit for the company stood at Rs. 33Cr.

Old Monk was ranked 5th among Indian spirits brands at the Impact International’s 2008 list of “Top 100 Brands At Retail Value”

Companies “Old Monk” brand has a very loyal customer base which contributes approx 80% of the total sale of the company that amounts to Rs. 758 Cr of Old monk sale only.        

Its listed peers are United Breweries and Radico Khaitan in alcohol segment.
